White People Don’t Care About Black People!!!!
And I’m cool with that….
Let’s get real about something: white people, as a whole, don’t care about Black people. I’m not talking about individual friendships or allies who genuinely care and want to help—I’m talking about society at large. Racism is not a priority for white people, and Black folks need to stop pretending like it ever will be. It’s time to grow up and stop looking for validation from people who aren’t invested in solving this problem.
Stop Expecting Them to Care
Every year or so, a major racist incident makes the news—a police shooting, a hate crime, or some other gross display of racial injustice. Black people rightfully get angry, and then the cycle begins: marches, protests, social media outrage. We get loud, and what do we expect? For white people to get loud with us.
Let’s pause here. Why are we waiting for them to join in our anger? Why do we need their participation? Historically, white society has made it clear that systemic racism isn’t their issue.
If it were, wouldn’t it have been dismantled by now? I mean, white folks mobilize quickly when they care about something.
Look at the climate change movement, look at any big political campaign—they know how to make change happen when it’s something…
